It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to deliver the news that our Brother Dave ‘Dog’ Vaughan passed away on Monday after being involved in an accident on his bike while returning home.
As you can imagine, the Club and family are devastated to lose such an amazing Brother, Father and Grandfather. The family have asked that they are left in peace to grieve, please respect this.
Funeral Details
For all those wishing to ride and escort Dog, please meet at the Ogri MCC Clubhouse Friday September 15th 2017. We will be leaving at 10am at the latest, ideally ready to go by 9:45 to ride to Amport House, near Andover (be ready to
The run will be taking the following route from the Clubhouse to Amport House, CH to Amport Route on Google Maps – there will be some riders joining the run (which will not stop) at the Esso Petrol Station in Chiseldon.
Bowser is leading the Run and has decreed “ILL vehicles FULLY fuelled and ready to go, make sure you have BEEN for a piss, there will be NO NO NO piss stops, there will be NO NO NO fuel stops if you need to stop then you will need to catch up, NO NO NO breakdowns its not permitted on this trip, bring waterproofs but rain has been banned for the day as well (may however ignore us). Last thing this is a run for BIKES only, if you have a car and are going I would suggest setting off before us, we don’t have time to shepherd cars/vans etc in among bikes sorry but you need to free run and we will see you there. In the event that I do not get lost, and we arrive in good time, at the point were I can see the destination, there WILL be a U turn just for Dog, lets give him a fucking good send off. ”
For those that cannot make it to the Clubhouse, please arrive at Amport house before 11:50 so that the Funeral cortege has an unhindered entrance.
Please note there is a Horse Riding School in Amport – they are aware that there will be a lot of bikes and vehicles in the area and they will try and notify all of their riders but just in case, keep your eyes open as your arrive near around Amport
We will then escort Dog to Basingstoke Crematorium to arrive at 1400hrs for Dog’s service and Farewell. After the service, we will be returning to Amport House where there will be refreshments and a chance to celebrate Dog’s life.
There are still details to confirm, but donations to charity rather than flowers will be preferred. The charities will be Blood Bikes and the Air Ambulance.
Please use the RSVP forms (one per bike/trike please) with where you intend to join the run (so please choose the correct RSVP please) so we can gauge outriders and escorts required.
If you have any problems RSVP’ing / have questions or are coming by car, drop simon@ogrimcc.org an email. (Please do not worry about the e-ticket confirmation you receive, this is just a by product of you RSVP’ing)
The family have passed a message of thanks and gratitude for all the love and respect shown to Dog and themselves since his passing.
I would like to add on behalf of Ogri MCC our thank you for all the messages of support that we have received, it just shows what an amazing man Dog was and how loved he was by all that met him.
Dog, you were diamond in the rough and I will miss your stories. Ride Free Brother.
