OGRI MCC FAQ

FAQ – some of the most common questions we get asked at OGRI MCC

Who/What is OGRI MCC ?

OGRI MCC is a members based motorcycle club that was originally formed in the Osnabruck area in West Germany in 1978, when all the original members were serving in the Army or RAF. Members still include serving and ex Armed Forces as well as Police and a plethora of civvies from assorted walks of life. We’re about bikes, good company, a sense of humour, and not taking ourselves too seriously. We like a good party and chinwag over a pint or 12 Our Colours were specially created by Paul Sample, creator and illustrator of the original OGRI cartoon character. Paul was made an honorary member of OGRI MCC

Do I need to be a member to attend OGRI events?

Nope. Most events are open to all unless clearly stated otherwise. Membership exists, but many people come along to just enjoy the biker events and parties we put on – and that’s absolutely fine.

So what events does OGRI MCC put on ?

We run two main motorcycle rallies a year – the Kickstart Rally is a semi traditional rally held at the end of January and the Summer Rally held August Bank Holiday Weekend.
Both of these events are strictly motorcycle only, after all its what we’re all about !.
We hold assorted other events during the year where typically we allow cars, campers etc – please check the event details.
We try and hold a “Friends and Families Weekend”, a Halloween party, a New Years Eve bash and random other open nights.
Our events are about enjoying bikes, meeting people and having a good time without attitude or pressure.

Why don't you come to our events ?

Err, sorry about that. It might be it clashes with something we’d already arranged to go to, we forgot or its one we don’t know about. Drop us an email to remind us for next time.

Whats this about ``Beer Tokens``?

OGRI Tokens help keep queues moving and our maths vaguely simple (always a bonus on a long shift!)
Buy tokens for cash, exchange tokens for beer.
e.g 1 strip of 10 tokens = £5, i.e. each token is “worth” 50p.
Say a pint costs £4 in real money. We’ll ask you for 8 tokens, i.e. 50px8.
Sounds weird, but it speeds things up at the bar considerable – which can only be a “Good Thing”

Are children allowed?

Children are typically welcome but sometimes may not be suitable for under-18s—please check the event description.
Please remember that your children are your responsibility

Are dogs allowed?

For the most part, we love dogs — just not at our events.
Due to the site’s proximity to a live airfield and the need to manage safety and welfare for everyone, we have decided that dogs are not permitted (not even our own!)

Can I bring the car/camper/caravan to the rally ?

We have two Rallies which are strictly motorcycle only. This is so we can put on an event for bikers, arriving on bikes/trikes, with more tickets available. If we allowed cars/campers/caravans as standard, this impacts the amount of space we have available on site (amongst other things) and we would potentially have to restrict ticket sales, so folks would miss out. We’d like to give as many bikers as possible, the chance to come along on their bike !

I'm disabled/have a medical condition - can I attend ?

Some of our members have disabilities, so we try to be as accessible as we can. The Clubhouse has a disabled toilet and we make sure there are accessible toilets on the rally field. If you have any access questions or anything you’d like us to be aware of before the event, please get in touch — we’re happy to help where we can

Why do you charge for glasses ?

A couple of reasons – firstly single use glasses are flimsy. They crack and split and waste your beer (a Bad thing). They get thrown on the ground and break down even more. We end up buying MORE glasses to cover, more get thrown away and cleaning the site takes longer. This means we would have to charge MORE to cover the costs.
Secondly, we’re next to a LIVE airfield. FOD is a thing (Foreign Object Debris/Damage).
By buying your glass, it keeps our costs down, you get a souvenir and there is less to clean up – everyone wins !

I came to an OGRI MCC event and ended up with a headache?

Congratulations, our complimentary, randomly dispensed, hangovers are only given out to very special people. You are a winner, revel in it (possible with a brew and biscuits whilst sheltering under a duvet)
