I was asked to write a report on the North area party 09-12-06 so here goes
I arrived at the clubhouse early in the afternoon for a reps meeting, to find that we had no electricity!
Good start to a party night then. After the meeting we all stuck in trying to fix things up. Candles found and lit… Kel and Pete provided gennys, Monster changed the wiring from 3 phase to single phase… Technical stuff??? Tables were laid, bar cleaned.
We have lights!!! Well done Monster No heating though… it didn't get on with the genny and thought it was better to burn out than fade away.
At 4 pm the first punters arrived … just like our rally tickets sell out date, it happens earlier and earlier! By an hour before the start we had a decent group already at the bar supping away. The draft was going on gas pressure… gas ran out… no fear, I changed the cylinder… 10 mins later Kel turned it on … DOH!
Half an hour to go to the start… power is back on!
Monster rushes to undo the work he did earlier.
People arrive, we serve drinks, people have fun and the band starts… Voltage
You couldn't really tell from the song list that Steve had been to see the Levellers the night before… he sang almost their list from the previous night!!! as well as many others (Much better value than the Levellers although not quite to the same standard). The numbers of people, alcohol and the dancing soon warmed the place up.
Peewee turned up and drank a few goodbyes… he's off to Oz, we are sorry to see him go, but good luck
Too fast along came midnight and I stopped serving and sorting, it was now my birthday and Mr J. Daniels wished me a very happy birthday and I get hazy from there.
Thanks to the North area for running a very enjoyable party.
